First strip of Parity complete. I love the painfully arduous beauty of thatch hatching.

I guess this is an original murder ballad if you disregard that I ripped off Townes Van Zandt’s Snake Song.

I’ve finished scanning every last page of Fabricari. Including this pin-up from ‘90-something drawn during my Mucha phase.

Fabricari (Legacy) Issue 2 Complete:I’ve finally completed the re-scanning and re-lettering of Fabricari #2 (1998). It’s an awkward comic because, at the time, I had challenged myself to complete it within a month. I took far too many shortcuts with the art. Despite that, I was happy to prove to myself that I could finish a page a day. And it does reveal another perspective of Ber Dosa even if using broad-swords to fight robots is a bit implausible. But hey, that’s comics!

While the pose might be considered a bit racy; I was sweating more over how to get the foot and the foreshortening of the leg right. Feet are weird, fun things to draw.

I had a lot of fun at this Dr. Sketchy’s, but I still think the art I ended up with wasn’t quite right. Maybe it’s because I changed my approach starting with a light lead and detailing with the softer HB. I think it got me drawing more tightly than I had at the previous sessions. Also, I seldom make the model look better. I make people look older or less attractive. That’s my super power.

My contribution to the Dr. Sketchy Sketchbook making its was across the country. Ended up being my favorite for the night.

Wanting to carry some of the momentum I got with that 30 day project, I asked for some friends to send me some photos to draw from. Alexander Danner sent this one in. It’s a great photo with a lot of story packed into the details. Of course, I still have a long way to go before I successfully capture a person’s image accurately. So, I’ll practice some more!

Pre-Fab(ricari), Complete, 7 Pages:I posted the last of the “pre”-fabricari pages. I’m really pleased to have put this book to rest. In a way, I feel as though I’ve made good on a promise I made to my 19 year-old self to finish this pages that I had started way back when. It also brings the theme full-circle.
I drew these ideas and cliches again and again as I tried to improve myself as an artist. The theme was simple: I was too young, too immature, to have really experienced anything worth sharing in my art, so I created a character to create interesting things for me to draw - fabricari. I opted to leave these pages without any dialog simply due to the fact that I hadn’t written any. Fabricari was always an ad hoc project.
It gives me a great big smile to ink away some bad habits in my old art - a time-traveling collaboration! I hope you enjoy!

Inking Progress. This was the first (and hopefully last) of my cliched robot/workshop scenes.
